Our #helpoften activity with Spires Homeless Shelter
This month I was one of twenty enthusiastic scribblers taking part in our first arty Community Action. This gave me the opportunity to do something amazing; I took the time to sit down and draw. This simple act used to be a huge part of my life having studied at art school during what seems like another lifetime now. Drawing was almost a daily routine and I loved it immensely, yet it somehow evades me these days so it was great to get creative again. What made this drawing session even more meaningful was that the images created will be used as resources during wellbeing sessions at Spires, a local London homeless shelter.
Piles of decorated journals and hand-drawn colouring in sheet were soon mounting as our team got to work. Intricate geometric patterns and lovely landscapes were in abundance along with scores of bonkers animal images. It was a great effort all round.
Huge thanks to Kirsty and the rest of the Cause Corps team for facilitating the session. We look forward to doing it all again soon!
